Nobody Has Time for a Perfect House
Let's be honest — between school drop-offs, hockey practice, work schedules, and trying to keep everyone fed, cleaning often falls to the bottom of the list. And that's okay. You're not failing at adulting. You're just busy living your life in Grande Prairie, which is a full-time job all on its own.
But there's a middle ground between "magazine perfect" and "I can't find the counter." Here's the schedule we recommend to our clients — the one that keeps things manageable between professional cleans.
Daily Tasks (10 Minutes Total)
These are the non-negotiables. They take almost no time but prevent chaos from building up:
- Wipe kitchen counters after dinner — 2 minutes
- Load/unload the dishwasher — make it part of your morning routine
- One load of laundry — wash, dry, fold. Don't let it pile up
- Quick bathroom wipe — keep a pack of cleaning wipes under the sink, hit the counter and toilet seat
- 5-minute pickup before bed — everyone puts away their own stuff
Weekly Tasks (Pick a Day)
If you're on a biweekly cleaning schedule with us, these tasks keep things from getting out of hand between visits:
- Vacuum high-traffic areas: entryway, living room, kitchen — especially in winter when the gravel and salt track in
- Mop the kitchen floor: Alberta winters mean muddy, salty boots. A quick mop once a week keeps it from building up
- Change bedsheets: strip, wash, remake. Your sleep quality will thank you
- Wipe down appliance fronts: fridge handle, oven door, microwave — the fingerprint magnets
- Take out all garbage and recycling
Monthly Tasks
These are the ones most people forget until company is coming over:
- Wipe baseboards in main living areas
- Clean inside the microwave
- Dust ceiling fans and light fixtures
- Wipe light switches and door handles
- Vacuum under couch cushions (you'll be amazed what's down there)
Where We Come In
The deep stuff — scrubbing showers, cleaning behind appliances, baseboard detail, window tracks, oven interiors — that's what your scheduled cleans with us are for. We handle the heavy lifting so you can maintain the daily rhythm without burning out.
Most of our Grande Prairie families are on a biweekly schedule. It hits the sweet spot: enough time for things to need a proper clean, but not so long that it becomes overwhelming. If you're curious about what schedule would work best for your home, give us a call. We'll figure it out together.
